A Tough Thursday Interval Run

When you don’t get a good night’s rest it definitely has an impact on your running. This morning was especially touch trying to keep up with the fast interval paces. Trying to make my way through the snowy sidewalks didn’t help matters either. My running struggles pale in comparison to the struggles many face each day with finding water, and usually it’s not clean. #HWI #Run4Water #WhyIRun #GRGus Help provide clean water. https://timn.me/2Kx7NEr

Would You Rather…Run In 90 Degree Heat Or A Foot Of Snow?

There wasn’t a foot of snow this morning, it was probably more like 6 inches, but it still made for a tough go of it as you still need good traction to move. I almost wiped out on a slick spots in the Family Faire parking lot towards the end of my run. #HWI #Run4Water #WhyIRun #GRGus In regards to “would you rather”, my preference is winter running over hot summer running any day. It’s significantly easier getting yourself warmed up by running than it is to get cooled down. Then again it does matter what weather conditions you might expect for any race you plan on running. Slowing Down To Speed Up, Monday Run On The Dreadmill

In 5 weeks I’ll be running my 5th marathon and representing #HWI and spreading the message for the need of clean water in Africa. #Run4Water #WhyIRun #GRGus With such a short time for training making sure I’m following the plan is really going to be key to finishing well. In that light I took advantage of the treadmill today and set the speed to the slow pace today called for. Deciding to run on the dreadmill(treadmill) didn’t come easy but with the weather being rain & wind with a potential for snow, I decided it was best. Support Clean Water: https://timn.me/2Kx7NEr

Focusing On The Distance Not The Pace

There is a reason the saying goes that “life is like a marathon, not a sprint” and it has to do with going the distance. Getting back to the basics of marathon training means focusing on slowing down and building up the endurance needed to finish well. If I’ve learned anything from this past year of training it’s that I lost sight of this fundamental part of training. If I have any hope of finishing well at the upcoming Groundhog Marathon I need to keep focus on that key piece of my training. Today I tried to keep that focus though I still finished with a much faster pace than my training plan directed. I’ll be working on that more in the weeks to come….
