Relegating To The Treadmill

With my wife out of town I can’t be leaving the kids home alone, this means the treadmill it is. I think this is the first time I’ve been on the treadmill probably in the last 8-10 months. I literally can’t remember the last time I had to use it. For times like these I’m glad we have it or there would be no running. Since the treadmill required significantly less thought, except for changing the speed during the short interval run segment, it gave me ample time to think about the Sierra Leone team and trip. I continue to pray for our team’s planning and the journey to come. #HWI #Run4Water #WhyIRun #RiverBankRun

Warming Up With The Pace

When you are a runner the colder winter temperatures are either a motivator or a demotivator. You are either going to be motivated to keep going, and keep warm, or you are going to be demotivated to not even step out the door. For me, most days my decision to run has little to so with the outside temperature, or weather. My decision usually depends on how tired I feel and if I want to go back to bed. Once I get out the door, then the outside temperature is my motivation for how fast I’m going to run. This morning the single digit temp helped me kick things up a notch. During my run, most of my thoughts were on the Sierra Leone team…

Running Headstrong Into The Polar Vortex

Despite the wind and snow I made pretty decent time. When I got to areas where the snow wasn’t blowing it was a pretty nice light snowfall morning. I spent some of the time praying for the members of our Sierra Leone team and for the experience we will have. Prayed for our need of another lady on the team as well. #HWI #Run4Water #WhyIRun #RiverBankRun

New Route, Same Running Partner

I met up with my running partner at the Riley Street Middle School this morning, and we tackled a new running route. Runner’s know you don’t want change up too much at once. It was a mostly rural run, had to run the roads for the majority of the route, but that was just fine, while have some good conversation with my running partner. #HWI #Run4Water #WhyIRun #RiverBankRun

Knocking Down The Intense Baseline Run

It was a pretty quick intense run this morning, just something to give #Endomondo a baseline for training plan adjustments. Not really much time to enjoy to think about much or enjoy the warmer weather. It’s OK to have one of those every once in a while. I wasn’t sure how today would go given I didn’t get my Tuesday run in after being sick Monday. Every day is a new day! #HWI #Run4Water #WhyIRun #RiverBankRun

Getting It Done On A Monday Morning

It was one of those mornings where after getting up you entertain the idea of just going back to bed instead of get out there for a run. I got over it and hit the streets. It was a slow start, but by the end of my run I had easily picked up the pace. I came to a point, after having prayed for the pending #SierraLeone team, that it kind of dawned on me. How many of those in Sierra Leone get tired of the daily trek to get water for another day? They don’t really have the choice. I had a relatively easy choice this morning, nothing in my life hinges on that choice to run or not. My choice to run may…
