The Half Marathon Training Taper Begins

I’m now on the taper for the #HessLakeRun half marathon in a week and a half. This morning was supposed to be just an easy run but as is my m.o. I pushed it a bit beyond an easy run. It was surprisingly a fairly cool morning. Enjoyed listening to worship music and lifting up friends, co-workers, and family in prayer. I also couldn’t have a run without thinking about and praying for those in #SierraLeone that I met while there. #HWI #GRMarathon #Run4Water

This week I was pretty off on my #training but I got my long run in today since I’ve got an all day conference tomorrow. It felt good to be back out running and I even felt good about my pace, for an easy long run. It was a little bit of a struggle starting out this morning after having a long weekend of no running. Felt better by the end of my run. Through one of the worship songs this morning I was prompted to pray specifically for the father’s of Sierra Leone. There are many women and children that have been abandoned because of cultural stigmatism. Reflecting On My Sierra Leone Experience While Running

Since we’re gone camping this weekend I decided to get my long run in before we left. I was thinking a lot about my experience in Sierra Leone while I ran, including those specific people I had the opportunity to meet. I miss being there and am a little saddened that I may not get back there again. I’m still processing my time there, and trying to better share small pieces of my experience with others. It Shouldn’t Be All About The Run

No PR today on my long tempo run but the but I also don’t feel like I over did it either so that helps me to know I could still push myself to a faster pace or keep up that pace for a longer time/distance.
