Running Miles For Wells And Worship

I had to drag myself out of bed this morning. It was literally a battle of wills been my mind and body. Once I got out the door and my feet began to move things felt good. It helped to have the worship music playing and reminding me the one of the reasons #WhyIRun is to have one of one time with God, sometimes just to listen for his still small voice. I’m also determined to make every step I take have a bigger meaning as I rally support for clean water and lift up to God those on need. #HWI #Run4Water Donate to Wells – https://timn.me/2t9D4ne

A Little Speed Work, And A Lot Of God Time

While I did have to focus a little bit on the speed work part of my training run this morning, I spent a good part of that time reflecting on a lot of what God has been speaking to me about over the past week. I was challenged last night at the Daybreak missions dinner with what I am doing with my running, and my experience going to Sierra Leone. Having seen first hand what it’s like in Sierra Leone, I’m feeling challenged to evaluate how well I am using my running and my experience to make a difference. This leads into the regular feeling I get that God wants me to do more to serve Him. I struggle with knowing what that all means,…

Struggling Through Another Round Of Speed Work

Another speed work training run to kick my butt this morning. I pretty much struggled to keep up with the fast 7:27 min/mile pace I was supposed to be maintaining for 4 minute intervals. We’ll see how this winter training goes. I have a feeling it’s going to be challenging to get through speed work once the snow falls. I have a hard time with the idea of having to do my speed work on the treadmill, but I guess I can’t rule it out. Given the intensity of the run this morning, other than asking God to get me through another 4 minute interval, my prayer time was pretty much nil. Not exactly how I prefer my runs to go. This is definitely something…

Embracing The Winter Run

It may be getting colder and beginning to snow but it’s perfectly fine with me. I’m not sure if it’s the Minnesotan in me that allows me to continue with my running through the winter months, but I’m glad that I can stay active and not just stuck inside all winter. I enjoyed getting a report on all the wells our #HWI team helped raise money for last year. It’s pretty amazing to hear how much of an impact we are making. I look forward to seeing what this year’s fundraising will do. If I get a chance I will share a link to the report. #Run4Water #WhyIRun Donate to Clean Water – https://timn.me/2t9D4ne

Running Is My One On One Time

It’s still a little bit to get used to doing these longer “midweek” runs on a Monday instead of a Tuesday, but I think I’m getting into a groove with it. It’s nice to have a long “easy” run on a Monday where is can spend a lot of time listening to worship music, listening for God’s direction, and presenting the needs of friends and family to Him. I can honestly say that getting our for a morning run has not only been good for my physical health but it’s had a huge impact on my spiritual health as well. I do enjoy group runs but there is something to be said for having time where it’s just you, the pavement, and God. I spent…

Finishing Another Hot Cider Hustle

It was cold, wet, windy, and snowy for the #HotCiderHustle this morning, but it was fun to see a few #HWI teammates out on a Saturday morning. I didn’t bring home any medal but I still felt really good about my run given the ground conditions. I made sure to wear my pullover cleats which helped me avoid a lot of slipping and sliding while keeping up my pace.
