First Long Run Of The New Year

I’m thankful for the nice weather this evening, and for making it back safely from Minnesota, to get my long run in tonight. It was a tough one doing it at night and all alone. You don’t realize how many miles a running partner gets you through without you even feeling it until you don’t have one on those long runs. I’m looking forward to getting back to a normal routine again. Not that I’m happy with just the status quo, but being back in a controlled environment where it’s easier to stick to the good habits and resist the bad ones. I’m looking forward to what the new year holds for me both in my running and every other area of my life. #HWI…

Final Training Run In Minnesota

Final Minnesota run this morning. Got some hills in as well as a fast interval run. The temperature has been getting warmer, the feels like is now above zero. Makes for a bit more of a comfortable run when the wind gets wiping. I was trying to take some extra streets to get the miles in but still had to double back a few times. #SmallTownRunning #HWI #Run4Water #WhyIRun #GRGus

Preflight Long Run

Since our family was flying to Minnesota very early the next morning I decided to get my long run in the night before. It started out very strange because as I ran I felt like I was slowly trudging along but when my audio coach gave me updates it was saying I was doing a pace under 9 min/mi which just didn’t seem possible. Then for the first half of the run I was just cruising. The second half of the run was a very different story. I’m not sure why I just hit the wall but it happened. Christmas Eating Recovery Run

Some people may not realize that I actually love food. One of my downfalls is also that I’m an emotional eater. That made the commitment to drastically change my eating habits no simple task. There were a couple of things that helped me stay the course on my journey to a healthier lifestyle. The first thing was that before the journey began I was diagnosed with #prediabetes, and if I didn’t make some changes I was going to have some major health issues in the future.
