Today was an amazing experience with Enable The Children. It was both heartbreaking and encouraging to see what is happening for special needs children in Sierra Leone. We started off the day having breakfast at th the hotel with a visit from Anna Vines who is the director of the ETC program at World Hope. Today was pretty easy-going as we packed up at the hotel in Makeni to head to Waterloo & Freetown, making the first step towards the trek home. We had a nice long ride to Waterloo where we were going to see some of the final drilling stages of a new well. The well was being put in right near a school in a very poor area of Waterloo. Since it was near a school, and want looked like a community “park” there were a lot of kids around. I think there were a lot of people in general because of watching the well drilling. Today started off a little bit slower. There was a little bit of a communication problem with breakfast but it all worked out with plenty of time before our World Hope transportation arrived. We began day 3 at the World Hope offices of course. As we’ve hung out at the offices, and been driven to villages, we’ve had the opportunity to get to know many of the nationals that work for World Hope. It’s been a blessing to have people that are willing to be patient with us as we’ve tried to learn about the culture and learn to better communicate. We started our day at the World Hope International offices with introductions of some of the key staff that are involved with putting in wells. We also got briefed on some things to expect for the day and coming week. After our time meeting with the staff we got a tour of the drilling equipment and storage by Eugene. Eugene is from Nigeria and was brought to World Hope in Sierra Leone to lead the drilling teams. First Day in Sierra Leone

I had a great night’s sleep at the hotel. Where we are staying there are multiple buildings of rooms. Each of us has our own room and bathroom. I was honestly blown away with the accommodations. As I mentioned to my wife, I was humbled by the accommodations compared to living conditions we passed by on our drive to the hotel the previous evening. After breakfast, which included eggs, toast, fruit, and a hotdog, we loaded up in the World Hope vehicles on our way to Kethirie for church. It was so amazing to experience worship with the people of Kathirie and listen to the pastor and children’s ministry teacher give messages.
