On Friday, June 7th, I had the opportunity to join a group of #HWI Team members as part of a marathon relay team. I was chosen to bring the team home running the last 6.2 mile(10K) of the relay. It was a tough run for me as my phone/watch wouldn’t work, other than music through my headphones, so I had no idea what my pacing was and no timer to keep me hydrated regularly like I’m used to. I felt like I was sort of running blind. Tackling An Intense 30 Minute Thursday Run

Some days you just feel great out there running and some days you don’t. Today was the latter, but it was still intense, and I was really pushing myself. It’s days like today that I actually appreciate those hard days where it feels like you are barely moving and all you can think of is, “Am I there yet?”. I appreciate those days because I know that without those days, and overcoming them, I wouldn’t be where I am today. Just Another Tuesday Morning 10K

Since I kind of felt at an odd place training plan-wise I decided to do a long and hard run. I did however make sure I spent some time connecting with God through prayer and some worship music. During my run I couldn’t help feel blessed, and thankful, for my quick recovery from my surgery. I had the impression that I would have weeks of no running, but my recovery went so well I was feeling good for a run within a week. I also was reminded that just a little over a year ago I had just returned from a trip to Sierra Leone Africa. I will never forget my experience there and the impact it has had on my life.
