The Church Is Failing Our World Right Now
As I’ve been continuing to see the craziness of people protesting the stay at home orders around the country I can’t help but feel ashamed of the church, global, right now. At a time when we should be showing love and support to our communities there are so many that have gotten so caught up in their selfishness and have lost sight of the greatest commandments.
Jesus replied, “‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. A second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’”
Matthew 22:37-39 NLT
I just can’t wrap my head around what people that claim to be Christ followers can possibly be thinking. Instead of thinking of ways to help our neighbors, and communities, in a way that keeps everyone safe, they are choosing to put others needless at risk.
All the believers were united in heart and mind. And they felt that what they owned was not their own, so they shared everything they had. There were no needy people among them, because those who owned land or houses would sell them and bring the money to the apostles to give to those in need.
Acts of the Apostles 4:32, 34-35 NLT
I’m thankful to be a part of Kentwood Community Church right now, under the leadership of Pastor Mick Veach. The continuing message to call us to be the church, and be the hands and feet of God to our world is exactly what every church should be doing. The Church has had such a huge opportunity to impact our world for Christ through what has been going on but too many parts of it are failing big time.
