Hitting The Pavement After The Grand Rapids Marathon
Back in the saddle with an “easy” 9 mile run. I’m still finding it hard to keep a consistent pace. I tried to keep it in the 10:14 min/mile pace but it’s hard for me to get in a rhythm at that pace. It felt good to be back out running again after the marathon. I enjoy the quiet time. I’m still trying to hit the $2000 mark for clean water. I’ve only got $350 more to go. First Day in Sierra Leone
I had a great night’s sleep at the hotel. Where we are staying there are multiple buildings of rooms. Each of us has our own room and bathroom. I was honestly blown away with the accommodations. As I mentioned to my wife, I was humbled by the accommodations compared to living conditions we passed by on our drive to the hotel the previous evening. After breakfast, which included eggs, toast, fruit, and a hotdog, we loaded up in the World Hope vehicles on our way to Kethirie for church. It was so amazing to experience worship with the people of Kathirie and listen to the pastor and children’s ministry teacher give messages. What impacted my the most was seeing the people of Kathirie giving offerings…
Fight Against The Treadmill
Today was a big fight against the new(used) treadmill. I guess it was hill training this morning. I have to figure out this new treadmill so that I can actually use it in line with my training schedule. I felt slow and frustrated this morning. Blah. Who’s In Control On The Treadmill?
At a hotel this morning to #treadmill it is. I hate doing these 6.2 mile runs on the treadmill. Not to mention I feel way less in control. The very fact that this morning my phone fell and went flying. As I tried to catch it I fell and had to pull the emergency stop. I got back up and did my run but not without injury.
