So back to Wednesday…it was a bit of a crazy day, as most Wednesdays are. I basically headed straight to church after work. I had Sunday Morning Worship Team practice before youth group. I started early with just Brad. It can be a real challenge for me as I’m not used to playing in more of a backup role on the guitar. I feel pretty clueless as to how to play. What didn’t help matters either was that a lot of the songs I either didn’t know or have never played on the guitar. (I’ve since remedy some of this by more practicing on my own, and I found a couple of the songs on iTunes as we play them. Thanks Passion Worship Band) The youth praise team was leading during youth group that night too. I was a little nervous as to how this would go, and who would actually show up. I ended up deciding to do music in the sanctuary due to equipment needs. This wasn’t ideal but it did work out. The team really did a good job, and this was with a change up in the order to fit with the night.

Ok, so I’ve been a little frustrated with the new iTunes. I’ve actually reverted back to the previous version. It took some hunting to actually find the old installer. I decided to help others out who also wanted to go back to 4.9 and I posted the instructions that worked for me along with a link to the file I’ve got hosted on my website. Well the powers that be overseeing the Apple discussions sent me a notification that my post had been removed. Then I reposted and it was quitely removed without any notification. What irritates me is that there was no clear reason why it was removed. Well I posted a third time and didn’t include the link to my download site. Not that I’m certain this was why my post was removed. Well I had a good number of people requesting the download link. And I ended up getting on Skype and helped some Canadian woman get her iTunes 4.9 back and running. She’s an artist and sent me a copy of one of her works as a thank you. I was happy to help. I hope that Apple gets this iTunes issue fixed within the next week. As others have pointed out, this is going to go down as one of the huge software blunders for Apple. I sure hope they learn from this mistake. This is the first problem I’ve had with a piece of Apple software. How disappointing.

Well, to recap last night. I had a fun time at Kari’s. It was fun to see some people I haven’t seen in awhile and to meet some new people. Kari’s working to make some salsa but is trying to decide what recipe to use. She had three different kinds out. They were all good. My favorite was probably the one that had all the chunks in it. Personally I like hotter salsa, but it’s her salsa, and not everyone likes the level of hot that I do. We played some Catch Phrase, Mad Gab, and another game that no one really new the actual name for. Basically everyone writes 5 words down in a list. You generally do 3 lists each, but we only did 2 each. Then you put all the lists in a bowl and everyone picks a partner across from them in the circle. The object is to get your partner to guess the 5 words and then recite them back without prompting within 45 seconds. It was pretty fun. I was partners with Maredith and we didn’t do so well. I really don’t know anything about her. She came in as we were playing games so I didn’t really talk to her. I ended up leaving around 10:30-11:00 I think.

Well, I’m a bumb, other than helping that Canadian with a computer problem, I didn’t do anything today. Saturdays get to be my lazy day. I know there are a lot of things I could be doing, oh well. I’ve been in a real anti-social mode for awhile. I guess I can’t be accused of not talking with anyone when you see what I get into on this blog. Well church tomorrow, I’m going to be sure to make it to the fellowship & gathering time before second service. I hope there might be a group for my age that I can go to this year. So I got home tonight and wanted to checkout the news from Apple today. I saw the ads for the new iPod Neo and the iTunes phone. I also saw that there was a new iTunes 5. I went to Software Updates and upgraded my iTunes, I’ve done this in the past without problems. Well it totally messed up my iTunes Library along with my Podcast subscriptions. Popped on over to the Apple Forums and of course a lot of people are having this problem. Well I made the decision to revert back to iTunes 4.9. It took a little but to track down an iTunes 4.9 installer. Got it downloaded removed iTunes 5, along with all my iTunes receipts, and restored my iTunes Library file. After installing 4.9 everything is back to normal.

So for people that need it here’s the iTunes 4.9 download and the steps I used to restore my Library. (Mac Only)

1. Download the iTunes 4.9 installer.
2. Run “Activity Monitor” found in /Applications/Utilities/, quite the iTunes Helper process.
3. Remove iTunes 5 from your Applications folder.
4. Move all the iTunes* files from /Library/Receipts/ to a backup folder.
5. Move all iTunes Library files to a backup folder. (this is not your music file organized folders, just the XML and “iTunes Library” files.
6. Keep a copy of the “iTunes Library (Damaged)” file in your iTunes folder. Rename it to “iTunes Library”.
7. Run the downloaded iTunes 4.9 installer. Follow on-screen instructions.
8. Run iTunes 4.9, and you should have your Library restored.
