Weekend of Rest and Learning

Well, I have to say that it has been a pretty nice weekend of rest. I know that I haven’t been as regular in the blog posts. I’m still going to have to work to remedy that. I’ve actually half thought about adding an audio component to my regular blog. Since I’ve got this podcasting equipment it seems a shame to only be using it once a week. Also, I’ve gotten so many comments about my voice, why wouldn’t people want to sit and listen to me ramble. LOL ๐Ÿ˜›

I’m pretty sure I haven’t mentioned it, cause it’s been a few days since my last post, but on Thursday I had the opportunity to place a Skype call to Africa. I used a piece of software called Soundflower that creates a software audio device. I was able to then route the outgoing sound of Skype into my sound recording app. I was able to get it setup so that I could monitor everything, but still only actually record the other side of the conversation. I was originally planning on using Gizmo to place this call, only to find that Gizmo blocks calls to the country I was calling in Africa. BTW, this call was place for a project I’m doing. I won’t talk about it on hear much more as I don’t want information getting out there. You can ask me directly about this if you want more details.

Between last weeks podcast, and this weekend, God has been revealing some things to me. I’d encourage anyone to go over and listen to my podcast.

Well, this coming weekend I’ll be spending in the Twin Cities with Vanessa. I haven’t talked about her much as I’ve been trying to keep the speculations to a minumum. Neither of us really knows where this will lead. Our focus is putting Christ first in our lives, then building a friendship, and only God knows where things will go from there. I’ll have pictures to post from the weekend. And an incentive for people to listen to the podcast, I guess, is that I’m planning to have her on next weekends podcast as my guest. For the inquiring minds, this will be an opportunity for you to get to know her a little. I’m not sure when others will be able to meet either of us, as in her getting to know my people and visa-versa. There is a distance aspect that really makes things a bit more interesting.

Anyways, the Faith Shaping podcast made things a bit later tonight. So once again I’m up way later than I should be. So I’ll be leaving things here for tonight. Valette!

Your Wife Should Not Be Outserving You

This is not about having a competition with your wife on serving, it’s about taking a hard look at yourself as a husband and asking yourself what kind of leader are you. We live in a world where leadership, and men, are expected to be authoritative and followed because of their authority. Jesus’ picture of a leader is a stark contrast to the world’s idea. And God’s design and calling for a husband is a daily challenge that I doubt many of us even come close to living up to. Marriage is work, and being the kind of husband, and father, God calls us to be should be our highest priority. “If you are fulfilling Jesusโ€™ word that the one who wants to be the…

    God Confirms It

So I just got done reading my devotional this morning. Wouldn’t you know the subject was exactly part of what I was talking about last night. The “normal” life, or balanced life as the devotional put. Christ’s life, as well as the disciples, was anything but normal or balanced. When it comes to meeting the spiritual needs of others, and doing the things that really count, normality isn’t the way to operate. How refreshing it is to have some good quality time to let God fill me for the day, Amen!

    When God Moves…

Well, I have a feeling if I just let things start to fly this post might get rather lengthy. Hmm, hold on to your hat. ๐Ÿ™‚ So today was sort of a struggle for me. The part of my job that I like the least is having to sit at a computer and correct people’s addresses, or add them to a mailing list, yuck. I’m finding I’ve become bored with the whole thought of doing data entry. The things I always like about computers and technology in general are making them do cool new things. Also not just do cool things, but things that can help people better accomplish their work. Well, I’m at a loss to know any better, or cool, way to get…

A Post, A Post, At Last A Post

So what have we been up to, well when I say we I mean me. So life has been a little crazy this past week, although I don’t expect it to calm down anytime soon. I’ve got a lot of things to do by this weekend. I’ve got a load of photos to scan and some more video to import. I don’t think I’ll be getting the Cantata CD’s done by Christmas, oh well. Ok I guess I’m getting a little ahead of myself. How about we go back to last week. So my last post was Wednesday. That night was youth group and the whole youth praise team was there to lead music. We were even able to get everything setup in the fellowship…
  • Update, Long Overdue…

I’ve been married now for about 2.5 months. Married life has been what I hoped and more, some good and some challenging. We’ve gotten into more of a routine now, but not so much that life isn’t interesting. We’ve been trying to work on the house. A few weekends ago we put up gutters. That was an interesting job, with some challenges, but it’s all good. We’ll be doing some yard work in another few weeks. Once the grass grows back I think we’ll have a pretty nice front yard. Work has been going pretty good. The past couple of weeks I feel as though I’ve gotten nothing really accomplished, at least nothing that anyone can see. I began building a MapServer and learning the…

  1. That’s ok – Veronica was my sister’s name – I’m used to being called that. Even my parents would call me Veronica sometimes.

Tim – what is Valette? You use that a lot and I guess I don’t know what that is.
